Broseley Cinema shows films at Broseley’s Birchmeadow Centre on the third Tuesday of every month.
On January 20th, at both 2:30 and at 8:00 we have “Mamma Mia” ~ come and join in ~ simply enjoy it !!!

Grassroots grants is a new National Government grant fund specifically targeted at small voluntary and community groups and organisations (grassroots groups). In Shropshire the programme is being mannaged by the Community Council of Shropshire.
Eligible groups can receive between £250 and £5000 either as a one off payment or as several small grants totalling up to £5,000 over a three year period (2008-2011).
Who is eligible for a Grassroots Grant?
• locally managed voluntary or community groups, active in their local community for not less than 12 months prior to making an application
• income of less than an average of £20,000 per annum over the last three years
• volunteer-led goups (ie minimal, if any, paid staff)
• meeting a need in the local community
• working to a set of rules/governing document with a management committee/trustees
Applicants need not be registered charities. Unconstituted/informal groups can apply but will need to become constituted before receiving funding.

In January, The Birchmeadow Community Centre in Broseley will set out to create a special kind of Cinema Club. The aim is to have regular screenings where the films have been chosen by the members themselves, with a good chin-wag about them afterwards. As group member and “filmie” Dave Wallace says, “there’s a lot of people out there who actually like watching good films, and who like to talk about them, too”. (more…)
